In Loving Memory of Elizabeth Heaney 1919--2006

Elizabeth was born in Cattan on 15th March 1919. Her mother was Margaret Reynolds from Ohill and her father Patrick Moran. Her mother died when she was 10 years old, she was brought up by her Aunt Lizzie (Elizabeth Cassidy nee Reynolds) in the Post Office at Annaghmore.
Elizabeth had two brothers John and Packie a sister Mary also a sister who died when a baby. In 1941 she married Thomas Heaney originally from Barragh but by then living in Ballinamuck. Thomas passed away on 31st Aug.1983. They had a family of eight, seven boys and one girl. Their names are Peter, Patrick(Patsy) Tommy, Sean, Noel, Joseph, Kevin and Mary (now Mary Costello). All are alive and living in either Ireland or England.
In 1953 Lizzie Cassidy died and Elizabeth took over as postmistress, previous to that she had been helping out on pension days and when her aunt was unwell. In 1956 the Ballinamuck home was sold and The Heaney Clan all moved to Annaghmore.
John, Packie and Mary Moran have all now passed on. John died in 1992, Packie in 1984, Mary in 1983 and Elizabeth on 22nd May 2006.
